My daughter’s fiancé has very recently bought himself a new mattress, for use at his parent’s house, and it was only when my daughter stayed over that she realised her own mattress was really not up to scratch. She had been complaining about terrible nights and a lack of sleep, for weeks, but I assumed that she was probably just going through a phase. However, when she mentioned that she slept much better at her fiancé’s and that the mattress was so much more comfortable, we jointly agreed that a mattress topper was probably a good avenue to explore. I really didn’t want to bear the cost of a new mattress, as they plan to buy their own home this year and her old bed will eventually be replaced, for the occasional guest. I was just looking for a good temporary fix. However, by the same token, I didn’t want to buy something that likely wouldn’t make much difference. I thought memory foam would probably be the better choice. After comparing prices and reviews, looking for the best value quality topper, I settled on this one. It arrived within a couple of days and within the stated time frame. It came well packaged, vacuum sealed and, as per instructions, we laid it flat and let it expand to its full thickness, for 48hours. We weren’t aware of any odour, as mentioned in some of the other reviews. A handy cutting tool accompanies the topper, allowing you to safely and easily cut through the plastic wrapping, without damaging the topper itself. It comes with strong, secure, well-fitting corner straps that can be adjusted accordingly, for your mattress. The protector cover has small silicone beads (see photo) on the underside, to further anchor the topper into place and prevent ‘slippage’ on your mattress. The cover is zipped and fully machine washable. Ideal!! I bought the double bed size and this is a perfect fit..no ‘cliff edges’ experienced, from being too small for the mattress. My daughter loves that this topper can be flipped over, depending on whether you want soft or firm support. TIP: remember to remove and then replace protector, so that silicone beading remains on underside, providing that extra grip to your mattress. This is made easy because of the protector’s zipper. The topper is well-made, in a lovely soft grey. I purchased the waterproof version as I felt it would protect the topper from perspiration, likely lengthening its life. The stitching is neat and secure, including the fitting of the zipper, and the zipper works well, gliding smoothly. This topper also comes with 10 years of brand support but it seems like very good quality so I’m not anticipating any issues. If this DOES change I will, of course, edit my review. My daughter has tested this topper over the last few nights and is, indeed, getting a better night’s sleep, with none of her usual aches and pains the following morning. She finds it comfortable (using the softer side), and quickly drops off to sleep, without the usual tossing and turning beforehand, in a bid to get comfortable. She can no longer feel rogue springs or the dip that had recently developed. I’m very glad I chose this particular one (especially as I was able to take advantage of a discount voucher)!! What price for a good night’s sleep? Wish we’d decided on this months ago. Might buy one for my son’s bed now!! This review is quite lengthy as there’s much ground to cover, but I (and my happy daughter) thoroughly recommend and really hope that it has been helpful to you in making a decision.
