Surprised by how good this little treadmill is!

Surprised by how good this little treadmill is!
Of course, I've seen these all over social media and spent ages considering the pros and cons, but when my very expensive gym membership came up for renewal, I decided that I was going to buy one of these instead and give it a go. I've tried running on and off over the years and had even managed to get up to 5k just before the pandemic, but then I got Covid and suffered with Long Covid which messed up my lungs and anyway, I hadn't run for over 2 years as a result. I wanted to get started again, but I'm fat, slow and feel very self-conscious running outdoors or even at the gym. I wasn't sure how good this would be, as I was used to running on state-of-the-art treadmills at the gym, so I really didn't have very high expectations, however, all I can say is that whilst it in no way compares to an expensive treadmill, for the money it is absolutely brilliant and I just wish I'd got it sooner! It was very well packaged, it was really easy to set up and I've had mine 6 weeks now and use it 3-4 times a week. I'm slowly building up my aerobic fitness and improving my Vo2Max (which is brilliant to see!) and it really has changed everything for me. If I had a garage or a spare room where I could keep a larger treadmill, my fitness journey would be different for sure, but I don't, so this is a great option. My house is small and so having something that folds flat and can be propped up against the wall behind a door is a huge bonus. To use it, I spend perhaps 5 minutes at most moving it into place and getting the living room set up before a run, but I tell myself, that's so much less faff than having to drive 15 minutes each way to my local gym! The LED screen is bright and clear and cycles through a variety of stats including time spent, speed and distance. The treadmill does have Bluetooth and I've connected it to my phone, the speakers aren't great and not particularly loud (not over my wheezing anyway) but they are fine. However, I prefer to use my regular Bluetooth speaker to blast music, and I face it in front of the TV and stick running scenery on to keep me going. I'm a chunky lass (92kg) and I find the treadmill is super stable when running. There is some vibration though, so if for example, you place your phone or a tablet on the little integrated display holder, it does shake around and eventually fall off. I use that for a clip-on fan, however, and it works brilliantly. I should add that when walking, there is next to no vibration and you can leave your phone on the holder without it falling off. Essentially, I'm amazed at how good this treadmill is for the price. The only thing I'd say is that the first few times using it, I was taking strides that were a wee bit too long when walking (I'm only 5.6"), and slipped off the back twice. Since that first week and when running in particular, taking shorter strides has become second nature, and the width of the belt has been fine too as I was worried it would be a bit too narrow. It does take a wee bit of getting used to, but after a week or two, I had no problems. If you're short on space and are fed up with finding excuses not to work out, or like me you are too shy to run outdoors, or simply want to get more steps in each day, then I can't recommend this treadmill enough.

This is a very good treadmill purchase. I'm really impressed with it. It was very easy to setup. It's reasonably heavy which is a good thing. My kids were excited to see it all set up. The belt is good, it has a couple of marks or folds on the belt but it doesn't impact the performance one bit.

I've tested it out and my husband it performs very well. The belt and performance is good and smooth.

We will be using it daily too. It's a nice size which doesn't take much space in the room. My husband is 5'8 *

    • Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 September 2024
I got this treadmill just under 6 months ago, to use whilst doing computer work, I mostly use it under a standing desk. I intentionally chose a more expensive and bulky treadmill vs. a walking pad, so I had more options for it's use - I have also used it for running occasionally.

Overall, I am pleased with the product. It was easy enough to get going and suits my needs. It feels sturdy.
Double checking the dimensions of the treadmill was useful, to make sure it was suitable for the space I am using it in. Width considerations should account for the 'armrest', which is not removable. You can fold down the armrest to move it out of the way, as I do under my desk, but the treadmill will only go up to 6km/hr whilst it is down.

I was concerned when the treadmill first came, because it had a big diagonal mark on the running belt, but it looks like this is the case for lots of treadmills, perhaps from the way the running belt is manufactured or stored. It hasn't affected function at all.

My Bluetooth remote is not great, the buttons do not work all the time, and recently they have even failed me despite > 10 presses. Button unreliability was the case fairly early on, and a battery change has not helped. Fortunately, there is an app which you can control the treadmill speed with via Bluetooth to your phone. It wasn't super obvious what app to get, the QR code provided on a sticker takes you to a bit of an unhelpful YouTube video. The app is called 'EQiSports', for anyone hunting like I did in reviews.
Would I spend this much again? Hmm, mixed thoughts. I would probably expect it to have been a bit slicker for this price (just the little things noted above, like the remote), but I don't have another cheaper one to compare to, and am hoping this will last a very long time, at which point the investment would be worth it. I have found it to be worth spending that bit more to be able to run on it too.

      Mostly, so far so good

This treadmill appeared to be great on first appearances however very quickly I realised that it wasn’t right. After only 20 minutes of use it smelt so strong of burning plastic. After moving the treadmill to have a look at it there was bits of black melted plastic all over the floor! The running belt was also boiling hot to the point where you can’t stand on it without any shoes because it will burn. Dangerous item!
