I bought the ScanSnap iX1300 automatic document scanner to digitise all my doumentation stored over the year. The scanner has a tiny footprint on my desk and it runs flawlessly on an M1 Mac Mini running the Sequoia OS. It was extremely easy to set up and is pretty intuitive to use. It scans over 30 double sided pages per minute and after a bit of experimentation to orient the documents correctly in the document feeder, I have scanned hundred of pages saving a lot of filing space. I think the value for money is good considering how much time it has saved me. Image quality is good enough for document scanning but I have not used it for photos.

I first came across the Scansnap scanners when using a friends 1400 to scan old photos. This it did ridiculously easily with great results. I therefore decided to buy one for myself but opted for the 1300 because of the ability to front load as well which is great when scanning thicker material such as passports and credit cards etc. The software is intuitive and easy and the copier is always ready to go with just one press of the button. Brilliant !

What did I like about it. Well, as a replacement for my previous ScanSnap Fi-5010 eox, it is very good. Extremely compact and it does what I need it to do, which is to scan A4 paper documents and convert the image to searchable text in PDF format. Scanning is very fast, lifting the cover turns the machine on closing the cover turns it off. Most of the complexity is controlled by the software which is actually not in the box. you need to download these packages from the Fujitsu support web page. The results are excellent once you have managed to sort out installation and learnt how to operate the bundled SnapScan packages. I speak from previous experience with the Fi-5010 eox, as I am actually using using the iX1300 scanner with Vuescan Professional software which, in my opinion, is a much simpler and better integrated solution for my needs.
You can use WiFi to share access with more than one device but as I opted to connect via the USB lead (in the package), I am not going to comment on the use of WiFi

Dislikes, not too much. Manuals are pretty well absent, although there is a single folded 'get you started' sheet. There is one point you should be aware of. The reason I am moving from my original scanner to the iX 1300 is because of the deterioration of the document exit rollers, which turned from solid to a sticky mess. You can replace the 'pick' roller , and that process is described in the 'get you started' sheet, however this process, does not include the exit rollers. This actually limits the lifetime of the scanner and I note that the iX1300 has a similar type of roller. The good news is that you should get about 10 years of use before you face this problem!

It's pricey, so I bought it after a lot of research. It's small and portable. It took me around 20 minutes to set it up (you have to download the software to set it up), but once it set up it's connected to my laptop wirelessly, and all you need to do is press the scan button.

And behold - holy cow it's fast! And the scans are accurate! Colours are nice! And duplex (automatic).

I'm very impressed. This machine is GOOD.

The only caveat - if you want to scan to a 'searchable pdf' you will need to upload it to its cloud service.

Mit dem Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1300 bin ich sehr zufrieden. Ich musste aber für meine Bedürfnisse ein paar kleinere Anpassungen vornehmen:

Erst wurde das WLAN meiner FRITZ!Box 7530 AX nicht erkannt. Offenbar werden die Kanäle 12 und 13 im 2,4-GHz-Frequenzband vom ScanSnap iX1300 nicht unterstützt. Nachdem ich in den Einstellungen der FRITZ!Box unter "WLAN / Funkkanal / Weitere Einstellungen" den Haken bei "WLAN-Autokanal inklusive Kanal 12/13 (2,4-GHz-Frequenzband)" weggenommen habe, tauchte das WLAN in der Übersicht auf und konnte verbunden werden.

Die integrierte OCR-Funktion von ScanSnap ist sehr gut, aber nicht perfekt. Glücklicherweise liegt separat die Software "ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap" bei, die etwas bessere OCR-Ergebnisse produziert. Das Problem: Wenn ich mit der integrierten OCR-Funktion scanne, erhalte ich vor dem Speichern ein Vorschau-Fenster, bei dem ich einzelne (z.B. leere) Seiten wieder entfernen oder die Ausrichtung ändern kann. Sehr komfortabel! Wenn ich die Ausgabe aber direkt aus "ScanSnap Home" zu "ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF" umleite, entfällt dieses Vorschau-Fenster. Schade!

Meine Lösung: Ich umgehe im Scan-Workflow die Verwaltung mit der Anwendung ScanSnap Home und scanne stattdessen mit "Scan to Folder" direkt in eine Datei. Hier erhalte ich vor dem Speichern das gewünschte Vorschau-Fenster. Die Funktion "In durchsuchbare PDF konvertieren" (das integrierte OCR) habe ich aber deaktiviert. Die Output-Datei ist somit nicht durchsuchbar. Anschließend stoße ich im Dateisystem mit "Öffnen mit ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap" die OCR-Erkennung separat manuell an und erhalte die gewünschte OCR-Qualität (es wird eine zweite, gleichnamige Datei mit "_OCR" erstellt).

Das sind Details, mit denen ich den Workflow auf meinem Mac optimal für meine Bedürfnisse angepasst habe. Vielleicht kann jemand davon profitieren. Insgesamt ist der Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1300 aber ein tolles Gerät. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die kompakte Bauweise, die Geschwindigkeit und die Zuverlässigkeit und Qualität der Scan-Ergebnisse. Die integrierte OCR-Funktion ist für normale Nutzer ausreichend, man würde sich aber wünschen, dass die ABBYY-OCR-Engine direkter in "ScanSnap Home" integriert wird.

Tenia mis dudas si comprar esta compacta o la 1600, luego de leer los comentarios compré esta y más para escanear documentos de 1 mm de ancho que va por abajo.
Tengo unas impresoras de tinta que su escaner es muy simple y usaba los escaners de las impresoras HP pero se me bloqueaban por la tinta y otras.
Este escaner es super rapido , efectivo, a las dos caras.
Si tienes documentos que estan pegados, asegurate de quitar bien las grapas y que las paginas no esten pegadas antes de escanear.
Me ha salvado la vida este escanner.
