I have the power! Perfect camping backpack power supply.

I have the power! Perfect camping backpack power supply.
I purchased this ALLPOWERS backup power generator (not a jenny in the traditionally sense of diesel engine) on the 01 June 2021, for an upcoming camping trip to the Lake District. For reference the seller was Joners-eu and the price of the item was £249.99. A price I think is justified by this items attributes described below, but annoyingly at the time of writing this review there is a £15 voucher (typically my luck). Noting that a few details on the Amazon listing are incorrect I have highlighted them in an included screenshot. The product took two days to arrive and was delivered by Hermes. I normally try and avoid this courier alas I had no choice on this occasion. Hopefully the seller will change to a better service provider in the future, but I digress. The power generator arrived neatly packed, with sufficient padding to protect it during transit. Inside the cardboard box, which bared little marketing (KISS principle, right?), was the power generator, a few manuals, a USB-A to USB micro (short cable) and the AC charging wires. Now for the most important part of this review, details about the power generator. The size of the device stated on the listing is deceiving, this thing is small for what it can do. I was expecting some mini fridge sized gadget that was heavy to lug about. However, it is actually very portable measuring roughly 15cm handle down (22cm handle open) x 21cm x 11cm (height, length, depth). This power generator feels robust enough to handle most outdoor adventures (obviously not throwing it about and abusing it). I feel the weight of the device further adds to my confidence that it will survive the odd knock or bang here and there. On the main face of the device, starting from top left, are two AC power sockets. These will be ideal for charging our laptops and more power needy devices. I would not plug in a fridge or something that has large spike power draws. Next, the first of two orange LED power buttons, accompanied by the first of two LED lights (flashlight style). This arrangement is mirrored on the far right hand side and each light can be operated independently. Centered between the light configuration is the main devices power button, A USB button, AC power button, the device's LED display. Below this panel lies a removable screwed in compartment for fuses. Along the first side (right hand side if you were looking at it face on) lies 1x USB-C and 3x USB-A ports, with 2x AC power connectors nearby. During my testing I was able to use the USB-C port for powering my mobile phone, but also able to charge the power bank from a portable solar panel (see the including photos). I was initially worried I would need to buy a fancy solar panel with special connectors to charge the device, so I am glad this is not the case. The rear side of the device houses no ports and is plain, which is true for the bottom/underside. Moving swiftly on to the final left side, there are 1x 5525 connector and 1x red and 1x black terminal connector. I believe the red and black is another way to attach a solar panel, though, I lack the equipment to try it. Lastly is a car cigarette style port that hides under a plastic cap. The top of the item provides wireless charging capabilities and the carrying handle. As for actual working performance I have yet to fully discharge the device and measure its run time from full to flat. This is something I aim to do over the coming week, I will update this review once I have completed my trip and so forth, if I remember. I have generally tested it charging my Lenovo X270 and partner's HP Envy laptops and various mobile phones. The generator worked great, so I am expecting it to hold up on our trip. My only negatives, maybe I am being picky, but is there is a Bluetooth app. I haven't used it yet and I don't think I will need to? I am basically treating this device like a giant power bank, charge it, charge my devices... not sure why I need an app or for it? Furthermore, some ports have dust coverings and other don't. This seems a bit of a odd choice by the designer, I feel if all the ports had dust covers this would add to its outdoor appeal. If you've read this far thank you. Overall a great device that I feel should last a few year's worth of camping trips, thus, concreting the price point vs number of years owner.

    October 24 Update
Since first writing we have now added the S1500 to our motorhome power set up. With the added benefit of being able to charge it whilst driving + solar. This now unlocks the access to microwave, halogen cookers, and induction hobs plus many other a/c powered devices whilst off grid.Obviously not all at the same time!
    AllPowers S300 Li-Ion Solar Generator -

This is an October 23 Update based on our 45 days Southern Ireland Motorhome Road Trip. And how the Allpowers S300 and matching panel helped with our off grid stops. Supplying 240 ac 12 Volt dc and Multiple USB outlets. Once you work out how to balance your offgrid power requirements and knowing you can safely rely on 300 watts of power. You will certainly be able to extend your time off grid. During the bright weather the Allpowers 100w folding solar panel does a sterling job of keeping the S300 topped up.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I purchased the ALLPOWERS S300 on the recommendation of a friend, I'm so glad I did.
So many reasons why you need one of these. Here's just a few based on personal experience whilst using many free or low cost overnight stops without power, such as brit stops.
The ALLPOWERS S300 portable power station is equipped with a 288 watt-hour lithium-ion battery pack.
    My top reasons...
    1. Lightweight & Super simple to use.
    2. No longer draining the van leisure batteries to critical level, charging up cameras, gadgets and phone
etc. The S300 takes care of all of those and more. Keeping the leisure batteries free to run the habitation
functions. Shower - Lights -Heating Fan - Thanks to the ALLPOWERS S300 we no longer wake up to flat
    leisure batteries in the morning.
    3. It's lithium and Unlike lead acid, AMG and Gel batteries which will only
(at best) give you a usable 50% of the stated Amp Hours. The ALLPOWERS S300 does exactly what it says
    on the tin
    4. Has inbuilt AC inverter 300v 500v peak - 2 AC ports allowing me to use some power tools off grid
including soldering iron and 150w hair dryer for the wife
    5. Multiple charging options AC - DC car changing - Solar panel - Mains charger supplied
    6. Wireless phone charging QI standard
    7. Multiple power outputs AC - PD - QC3 - 3 usb ports - 2DC 12v 5A - 1 Car socket 12v/5A
    8. Can power up to 10 items at same time
    9. Intuitive user interface
    10. Bluetooth control - Allows S300 to be stowed away connected - And controlled via tablet/smartphone

I've only owned the S300 for just over a month but even in that short space of time I can honestly say 'one of the best travelling gadgets I've ever owned - Go get one!

    Anthony G

    Not just for camping...
UPDATE - I am beginning to realise that the S300 is fast becoming the go to power source when working in the car, van, garden and so many other location where mains power is not available.

I MAY NOT HAVE NOTICED IN THE SUMMER - But as it's that time of year for getting your transport into ship shape condition I begin to realise how much more than just a camping accessory the Allpowers S300 solar generator is.

Obviously this is a 300w 500w peak device, so some high power items may not be suited. But that's not caused me any issues yet, especially with the added bonus of being able to view the exact power being drawn and built in safety shut off.

With careful power management in the motor home and with the correct cable - I was able to plug the A/C output from the S300 into the power in socket on the motor home - And successfully run lights, fridge but more importantly the fan on the Truma LPG heating system., *without depleting the leisure batteries. That's a major bonus on the at this time of year (January 2023).
*(This was with the 12 volt van system disconnected)

I used to own a 2.2kw petrol generator which was hardly ever used due to size weight and unreliability.
The S300 although a lower output power has had more use in the last month than the generator did in the four years I owned it - And of course zero noise pollution!

How did I ever manage without the Allpowers S300 in the past? It's making off grid camping for longer more achievable. Especially with the addition of the matching 100w folding solar panel without the need for separate charge controller as the S300 has one built in! Enjoy

I have the power! Perfect camping backpack power supply.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 June 2021
4.0 out of 5 stars Lüfter läuft fast nonstop, Display ist schwarz, keine Ladeanzeige
Reviewed in Germany on 7 November 2023

5.0 out of 5 stars grünes Kraftwerk
Reviewed in Germany on 6 December 2022
