I've been a Cricut fan since buying and Explore 3 last autumn. I had a go at iron on vinyl but found it difficult to get the vinyl to stick with a standard iron as I had little control of the temperature and was concerned not to burn the garment. So during the last Prime day I ordered the 9" heat press, and very impressive it is.
Simply set the temperature and time, place it over the HTV on the garment and press the timer. When it beeps, remove. I made my wife a printed t-shirt for her birthday using an iron, but after being worn a couple of the letters started peeling. Shortly after I received this press, so repeated the heating process using it. Despite the garment having been washed, the press meant that the vinyl bonded really well to the garment. About six washes in and everything is still looking good.
This is very easy to use and comes with a durable plastic iron stand and carry bag. I might look at getting a mat to use under the garment, in case I dabble with infusible ink.
An excellent upgrade for anyone wanting to apply HTV.
